A First for Eindhoven: The Netherlands’ First 3D-Printed Homes for Sale

In 2021, Eindhoven achieved a world first with the completion of the first 3D-printed home. Now, four years later, Project Milestone continues at the same location with the construction of four more 3D concrete-printed houses. This time, they’ll feature two or three floors—and, for the first time, they will be available for private purchase.

Advancing 3D Printing Technology
After the first house was built, extensive development work continued behind the scenes. Saint-Gobain Weber, with its 3D printing facility located at the Hurk industrial area in Eindhoven, has invested heavily in making multi-storey, self-supporting 3D-printed homes a reality. Together with the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), the production process has been refined, tested, and optimized over the years.

New designs
Two new home designs have been developed, each consisting of multiple storeys---unlike the first model. These new homes rely entirely on the structural strength of the printed concrete, which is unique in 3D-printed residential construction worldwide. Their organic shapes resemble livable "boulders" and blend into the forested surroundings near the original house. Two of each design type will be constructed on Bosuil Street in Eindhoven.

Start of sale
Unlike the original rental home, the new houses will be sold. There will be two of each type---named Hoodoo and Navajoo---available after the summer holidays. Interested buyers can register at woneninmilestone.nl to stay informed. Floor plans and further details are available on the site. Prices start at €635,000 (buyer's costs included).

Construction timeline
The components will be printed by Saint-Gobain Weber at their own facility and assembled on-site by construction company Van Wijnen. Construction is expected to begin in early 2026, with keys handed over to the new owners by the end of that year.

Collaborative innovation
Characteristic of the Milestone project is the cooperation between government, knowledge institutions and the business community. The municipality of Eindhoven is a co-initiator, driver of innovation and facilitator of the project, the TU/e conducted research and developed models to make 3D concrete printing possible, Saint-Gobain Weber Beamix developed the process needed to deliver consistent quality on the production line, Houben / Van Mierlo Architecten designed the houses, Witteveen+Bos is working on the structural and engineering aspects and the construction company Van Wijnen is leading the project and building the houses.
