Innovative 3D printed skatepark in Paris: A glimpse into the future

During the summer of 2024, Saint-Gobain Weber unveiled a groundbreaking 400 m² skatepark on the Esplanade de Paris La Défense. This unique park, featuring shapes reminiscent of a giant pinball machine, was open from July 18 to August 11, welcoming skateboarders of all levels. The project drew attention not only from the local community but also from international visitors, thanks to its innovative use of 3D concrete printing technology.

Before its opening, the skate elements were thoroughly tested by prominent skaters and influencers at the 3D concrete printing factory in Eindhoven. One of them, Hortense, co-founder of the Concrete Surf Riders Paris club, expressed her excitement at the time: "I can’t wait to explore the full skatepark and see how riders make it their own." This enthusiasm highlighted the strong sense of community that the project fostered.

The 3D printing technology offered unique advantages. It allowed designers to create complex shapes perfectly tailored to the needs of skateboarders. Moreover, this method significantly reduced CO₂ emissions and accelerated the production process. The skatepark demonstrated how innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand, offering visitors an unforgettable experience.
