Spanjaardsweg Philippine: slopestairs as sustainable step in future-proof water management

In early 2024, the ground was broken for the new pumping station on Spanjaardsweg in Philippine, a project that is crucial for water management in the region. Under the direction of contractor M.J. Oomen riool- en betontechniek B.V. (part of KWS), an innovative solution will be realized here. The project includes not only the construction of the pumping station, but also a link with the Angelina polder and the widening of nearby watercourses. With an investment of 2.3 million euros, Waterschap Scheldestromen is responding to future water needs and robust water management.

On October 9, the slopestairs were successfully installed, an important milestone in the project. These stairs are not only a functional addition, but also contribute to the accessibility and safety of the site. Thanks to tight planning and execution by M.J. Oomen's experienced teams, the pumping station was put into functional service after the 2024 construction period. The result: a strengthened connection to surrounding waterways.
